Diwali on the Square

So I heard many times before I came here that the Indian food is awesome (true, but not as spicy as I would like), but I didn't know that there was a lot of Indian culture celebrated here too. Yesterday, I went to this Diwali on the Square festival at Trifalger Square and it was so much fun.

The only sad thing, I guess, was that they didn't have fireworks but lit up the fountains instead. But still, it was great and it's nice that there always seems to be something new to see or watch or do here. I guess foggy London isn't so bad afterall...

Settling in London

After spending a week sleeping on Olivia's bed, I finally came to London to settle into my dorm. It's near Victoria Station, clean, and isolated but cozy. So today, I walked around towards Buckingham Palace (that's right, it's walking distance from me) and I just watched guards do nothing before I went to eat lunch in Green Park. There were multiple people who sat next to me and watched me drink my milk (I had a craving!) and they looked homeless/smelly.

I spent the rest of day trying to find closet hangers and realized that British ppl do not know what they are or where they might be found - e.g. telling me to go to a sporting good store?!? But I found a sweet Japanese/Asian food market that made me think of going on a ramen diet (props to Olivia).

Finally, I met some UT Austin people and had bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potatoes), and we talked about how we felt old and could not keep up with the 18 yr-old youngins that dressed up to go to the pub.

Overall an interesting day but more to do and headbands to find!
